Compliance Corner: Getting Inspected?

Bill Morris, TCEQ

Author: Marketing/Sunday, January 1, 2006/Categories: Compliance Corner

The TCEQ will generally give you 7-10 days notice that they are coming to inspect your facility and what documents they will want to review. For example, the last two line & line leak detector test results, and records of monthly release detection for the tanks & inventory control, just to name a few. Here are a few simple tips to help prepare you:

  • Be sure the person who will be meeting with the TCEQ inspector is knowledgeable of the UST system and records being kept.
  • Make sure you understand what information they need and make copies for the inspector as needed.
  • Prepare for the inspection as soon as you are notified. Don’t wait to the last minute.
  • If you are not sure if you are in compliance with TCEQ regulations, or need help on the documentation the TCEQ is looking for, such as inventory control, give PSI a call at 1-800-880-9582.
